Winter Camps
Individualized instruction in all aspects of English horsemanship is emphasized along with stable management, horse care, and animal safety. Our program encourages sportsmanship, cooperation, and responsibility to the needs of others – both human and equine.
Safety on and around horses is a major objective of our riding program and our instructors are well-versed in educating the novice rider. KJM school horses have had many years of experience safely teaching young students to ride.
Winter horseback riding camps for ages 7-12 years old include limited riding instruction, mounted drills, horse care and good camaraderie. Riders will enjoy once a day riding as well as horse-oriented videos, arts/crafts and other educational materials.
KJM is well-designed for the camp program and conveniently located near 111th and Garnett. We have a heated camp house with its own kitchen, bathroom, tack room, and tacking stalls. Our facility utilizes three large arenas, a training round pen, plus shaded trails and park. KJM is a working stable where campers can view experienced riders and trainers working horses, observe veterinary procedures, or watch the farrier forge and shoe a horse. Riders are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather.
We encourage you to apply early to ensure a space in our winter camp. We anticipate selling out; a waiting list is available for unexpected openings.
Camp Facilities

Winter camp is held Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Parents or guardians are asked to sign campers in when dropping off and sign out when picking up at day's end.

Campers need to bring a sack lunch and drink. A refillable water jug or bottle is advisable.
Long pants and sturdy shoes or boots are recommended for riding.

Camp is held every day even if it rains, as there are plenty of horse-related activities that can be enjoyed inside the barn.
